Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Animated Social Justice Campaign Workshops’
Host interactive workshops where students learn to create culturally diverse animated content tied to social justice causes. These workshops blend animation skills with community engagement to inspire storytelling that advocates for economic growth and stability.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Community Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m super into making awesome, culturally diverse animations that stand up for what’s right. I’m also pretty good at writing and creating storyboards for anime. So, I figured why not use these skills to help out with youth mentorship programs, and make a real difference by boosting social justice and economic stability..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
DECA – DECA prepares emerging leaders for careers in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship through competitions that enhance communication, leadership, and creative problem-solving skills. It is a must-have for the student’s pathway.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) offers hands-on experiences in business management and leadership, fostering skills in effective communication and team delegation which align well with the student’s goals.
Competitions
This introductory competition focuses on designing social media campaigns that effectively communicate a message. It fits the student’s passion for animated social justice as it builds foundational digital marketing and narrative skills.
DECA – Digital Video Production
This advanced competition allows for creative visual storytelling through video. It aligns with the passion project by emphasizing production quality and message clarity in social justice contexts.
This introductory competition challenges students to create animated content, directly supporting the theme of animated social justice. It provides a platform to experiment with animation techniques and visual expression.
This advanced competition is designed for students to create a comprehensive business plan. It empowers the student to develop a strategic plan for scaling the animated social justice campaign workshops and integrating them with community initiatives.
Community Service:
Animated Social Justice Workshop Series
Why it fits: This community activity connects the skills developed in competitions with real-life social impact, engaging local youth and community members in conversations about social justice through animation.
Implementation: Planned for the Spring semester of Year 1, the student will partner with a local community center in zip code 30075 to host a series of workshops. These workshops will include sessions on animation techniques, storytelling for social change, and hands-on activities culminating in a public screening.
Skills Development: Community engagement, workshop facilitation, event planning, collaborative communication
